Eric Winkle joined Byler & Winkle, P.C. in 1998.  His practice focuses on representation of clients in a wide variety of commercial litigation cases in the federal and state courts of Pennsylvania and the United States Tax Court as well as forming business ventures, real estate purchases, sales and development, commercial financing and Orphans’ Court litigation.  Mr. Winkle also provides estate and business succession planning and estate administration services to his clients.

Mr. Winkle received his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University (Columbus, OH) in 1984 and graduated with his Juris Doctor and M.B.A. from Capital University (Columbus, OH) in 1990.  His is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status) in Ohio (since 1984) and Pennsylvania (since 1990).  His extensive experience with tax matters for the last 40 years has given him unique experience and abilities in effectively handling major tax litigation and audit disputes for a wide variety of business and individual clients.

Mr. Winkle moved from Columbus, Ohio to Lancaster in 1990.  He, his daughter Caroline and his late wife Kelly O’Leary Winkle moved to Manheim Township in 2005.  Kelly was a nurse at Lancaster General Hospital, Wellspan York Hospital and a teacher at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences prior to her death in 2023.  Caroline is a graduate of Hempfield High School and University of South Carolina and now works as a paralegal with Byler & Winkle.

Mr. Winkle has served on a number of non-profit Board of Directors over the years, including the S. June Smith Center, Humane League of Lancaster County, and Hugh O’Brian Youth Foundation.  He is also past Chairman of the Corporate, Business and Bankruptcy Law Section of the Lancaster Bar Association and current Chairman of the Lawyer Referral Service of the Lancaster Bar Association.
